Computer-Guided Nanoparticle Therapy Destroys Tumors
June 29th, 2009 Gold nanoshells are among the most promising new nanoscale therapeutics being developed to kill tumors, acting as antennas that turn light energy into heat that cooks cancer to death. Now, a multi-institutional research team has shown that polymer-coated gold nanorods one-up their spherical counterparts, with a single dose completely destroying all tumors in a nonhuman animal model of human cancer.
INNOVATION — the tricky, many-step process by which ideas become
products and services — has typically been seen, studied and
celebrated at the micro level, as a pursuit for entrepreneurs and

Scientists and engineers at UC Santa Barbara and other researchers have developed a nanoparticle that can attack plaque –– a major cause of cardiovascular disease. The new development is described in a recent issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The amount of capital you will need depends on what kind of venture
you plan to build. You may need to go no further than the first rung
of the ladder. You might be able to build a very good business that
meets all of your financial needs without raising a dime from anybody.
You might also strike it lucky and get phenomenal growth without
